Google Pixel Pro Shot Challenge

Posted on

For NBA All-Star Weekend, MOS was tapped to creative direct, design, animate, and program the entire Pro Shot Challenge for Google Pixel — a 6,000 sq ft impossible shot course built for speed, precision, and pure bragging rights. Working with our longtime friends at VT Pro Design, we crafted an experience where fans got drafted to Team Pixel, hit the player tunnel under roaring lights, then raced against the clock in a series of shooting challenges — all leading up to a live robotic hoop finale on a futuristic court. Every moment was captured along the way and turned into a custom All-Star card that attendees got to take home.

Overall, it was a serious technical challenge — managing a network of 25 Pixel devices, building a custom NFC wristband system for seamless tracking, programming real-time gameplay and scorekeeping, syncing AI-generated voice moments, driving responsive lighting across the course, choreographing a robotic hoop with reactive content, and automatically generating custom printed All-Star cards for every player. It was a complex build — but was stoked to finally bring it to life.

Rally Against The Sun

Posted on

For La Roche-Posay at the US Open, we built a custom motion-tracked tennis game where players went head-to-head with the ultimate opponent to your skin: the SUN☀️🔥

Using a tennis racket embedded with a motion tracker and Unreal Engine for real-time gameplay, we challenged players to rally the sun into submission—each swing dimming its brightness. But no matter how strong the return, the sun never truly loses…

ZeroLounge LA

Posted on

Zero Lounge is a bar that just opened in Hollywood that’s bringing back ‘90s and 2000s vibes. Our awesome friends FTB.DESIGN brought us in to help create their 40ft interactive LED ceiling.

We tapped into the fuzzy memories of our youth to create some nostalgia inspired content and for some added throwback we added Nintendo 64 controllers that let you mess with the visuals overhead – distort animations, trigger effects, and close those annoying pop-up windows…. **sigh “the good ol’ days”

SAP CENTRAL SHOWCASE 2023

Posted on

Finally sharing this project we created for SAP that breaks down ice cream from start to finish icecream: We were asked to dream up a fictional ice cream brand and build out every step of their process – essentially imagine walking through the entire journey of how your favorite pint makes it to your freezer. We led creative direction and design along with creating and programming all the interactive installations that let visitors follow the whole journey – from the farms where ingredients grow, through global sourcing, into production (with real ice cream being made and tasted on-site!), through delivery, all the way to store shelves. Massive shoutout to our friends @vtprodesign and @noslate who helped transform 8,000 sqft into a fully functional ice cream supply chain complete with working robots and legit conveyor belts.

SNAPDRAGON AR HALFTIME SHOW

Posted on

For the brand new snapdragon stadium we were asked to create a experience that 30,000 stadium visitors could play at once. So we created the snapdragon race, an augmented reality race powered by people at the stadium. Via our custom web app and live broadcast consisting of 4 ptz cameras, fans raced the opposing team in a button mashing XR race where they could win prizes.

We produced and created 7 SDSU home games, complete with fireworks live actors and a multi camera AR broadcast.

SAP CENTRAL SHOWCASE

Posted on

We spent 3 months designing, animating, iterating and programming the central showcase for SAP’s Sapphire event. It was a rewarding yet challenging process that resulted in 9 installations over a 10,000 sqft area that immersed visitors in SAP innovation. From robots, to touchscreens, to full sized trees and massive LED walls, this is one of the biggest things we have ever built. To make it even more challenging we needed to go from empty convention center floor to a finished build in just 3 days. Thanks to our production partners VT Pro Design and Kommune + No Slate we brought it to life and made it happen.

SOFI Cylinder

Posted on

We are normally used to creating one off activations so it’s always a cool challenge and special opportunity to design something permanent and bring it to life. Sofi asked us to create a structure that would look good from all angles and feel fresh at every football game. So we designed, built and programmed this deconstructed 30ft wide LED cylinder that updates with live dynamic content and stats and is viewable from every direction at SOFI Circle.

US Open

Posted on

We created two activations for this years US Open tournament, Our first activation, a dynamic and interactive Tennis ‘Art Game’ developed for Chubb, harnessed the power of AI body segmentation and depth camera technology. This innovative game allowed participants to create unique pieces of art with each swing, turning every tennis movement into a distinctive artistic expression. The seamless combination of AI and sports evoked a whole new level of engagement.

Our second activation was in collaboration with Chase. By utilizing AI-driven background removal technology, we transported participants to various iconic locations around New York City. Users could virtually travel and immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and iconic sights of NYC, all while holding an augmented reality US open trophy. This activation effortlessly blurred the lines between the digital and physical realms, delivering a unique and unforgettable experience to every participant at the US Open.

SOFI Impossible Selfie

Posted on

For the new SOFI Stadium we wanted fans to share their Sofi Experience with the world. So we created an AI powered video booth experience that placed fans in impossible locations. Using a combination of a kinect depth sensor camera and AI body segmentation we were able to isolate users from their background and place them into believable locations. All of this was then easily shared with a simple QR code scan.

Kia Stinger Spots

Posted on

We were approached by INNOCEAN to direct 3 spots for the all new Kia Stinger. When we first saw this project, we jumped at the idea of telling a different kind of feature story. One that focuses on the feeling and the excitement related to the technology that is at the heart of the Kia Stinger. Using two 40k lumen projectors, volumetric light and some surreal DMT vibes we crafted 3 spots to highlight the Kia Stinger

Cyber Punk 2077 ARG

Posted on

For the Cyberpunk 2077 release we crafted up an alternate reality gaming experience that let contestants hack into a high tech shipping container to unlock real prizes (all from the comfort of home). Working alongside the amazing VTprodesign team this physical + digital experience challenged users to disable laser security grids, activate thermal cameras, and even control a robot plasma cutter to win the challenge. It was wild to see this one go from design to reality.

SAP Virtual Showcase

Posted on

We were tasked to design and build the central showcase for SAP Sapphire event. Typically Sapphire is a 3 day annual summit attended by 26,000 customers, partners, and employees from 180 countries. But with a global pandemic the event was canceled. This is the story of how we transformed a physical activation to an interactive online experience.

You can try out the experience for yourself at commitwater.com

A unique thing about this project was it utilized multiple disciplines that all came together to make something cohesive and engaging. SAP is behind the scenes the backbone of alot of companies but its hard to tell that story without showing an example. So for this project we created a fictitious brand called “Commit” that uses SAP to power their intelligent enterprise.

We designed Commit from the ground up, creating logos, branding, and product design. Then we designed physical installations that show how Commit uses SAP to power their business.

The physical installations involved clear OLED tvs, giant led walls, dmx controlled lighting and multiple industrial robots.

The physical installations were filmed then brought to life on an interactive website.

The web experience lets users design their very own bottle and actually get it shipped to their home. So even though people couldn’t experience the event they were able to interact and then receive an actual physical product.

ROBOARCAID

Posted on

Even with quarantine we still wanted to make something awesome for our friends to experience. So we created RoboArcaid. Collaborating with our good friends VTProDesign we created a custom live streamed video game that lets you control giant robots all through a website. Custom power ups and physical effects can be triggered all from the comfort of your home.

The game was built from scratch in unreal engine to take in inputs from the robot controllers. In the game you battle corona virus from the comfort of your couch, so we created this animated trailer to explain.

This interactive live streaming, robot controlled game hopefully will bring a little joy during these quarantine times.

Botanical Dimensions

Posted on

We love taking people out of their normal reality and immersing them with interactive installations. So when Intel reached out to us to make a new experience that leverages the power of the multi core i9 chipset and dolby atmos spatial audio we were excited to see how far we could push it. We decided to make botanical dimensions. An immersive experience that takes place in a real jungle (in downtown LA)

We combined spatial audio, giant hexagon LEDs, rear projected screen, haptic fans and a custom controller that allowed you to fly through a generative botanical world. Here is a quick video recap and some pictures of the setup that went into making this one happen.

We rented out a warehouse space in south LA to serve as the canvas for our jungle.

Then brought in a bunch of plants

And even added a lake

Via RSVP people could come experience this rare solo experience. Where they walked into a warehouse in LA and entered a full on jungle complete with real dirt, plants and immersive audio.

We designed a generative world using unreal engine, that visitors were able to fly through using the custom controller all while feeling insane spatial audio whip past them in the jungle.
